Hey there Sweet P’s ✨
Another week, another streaming lineup trying to steal every ounce of our free time 😭🍿
This week’s watchlist is PACKED with everything from horror and political drama to espionage thrillers, dark comedy, and emotional final seasons. Whether you’re looking for your next binge-watch, a chaotic reality TV escape, or something that’ll have you texting your group chat in all caps at 2AM, there’s definitely something here for you.
So let’s get into the titles hitting streaming this week that have MY attention.
📺 Sweet P’s Weekly Watchlist | May 17th–May 23rd
🔍 The Nightmare Upstairs (Hulu) — Streaming May 19th
Hulu is dropping a new true crime docu-miniseries investigating the disturbing case of Ty and Bryn, and just from the trailer alone? The energy is deeply unsettling in the exact way true crime fans love 😭
This feels like one of those binge-in-one-night documentaries that immediately sends everybody spiraling into Reddit threads afterward trying to piece together theories.
If you’re into investigative documentaries, dark storytelling, and cases that leave you sitting in silence after the credits roll, this one may need to go directly onto your queue.
Genre: Documentary / True Crime
💥 Jack Ryan: Ghost War (Prime Video) — Streaming May 20th
John Krasinski returns as Jack Ryan in this Prime Video action thriller packed with CIA operatives, betrayal, covert missions, and enemies who seem to know every move before it happens.
And listen… this franchise consistently gives “dad thriller excellence” in the BEST way possible 😭🍿
With Wendell Pierce, Michael Kelly, and Betty Gabriel returning, this looks like another tense, high-stakes entry for fans of espionage dramas and fast-paced action storytelling.
Genre: Action / Thriller
😵 Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed (Apple TV+) — Streaming May 20th
Apple TV+ continues its streak of dropping strange little gems with this dark comedy thriller starring Tatiana Maslany.
The series follows a newly divorced mom pulled into a bizarre rabbit hole involving blackmail, murder, and youth soccer politics… which sounds chaotic enough for me already 😭
This honestly feels like one of those shows that slowly builds word-of-mouth momentum until suddenly everybody online is obsessed with it.
Genre: Comedy / Thriller
🏛️ Tyler Perry’s The Oval — Final Season (Paramount+) — Streaming May 20th
Hunter Franklin chaos RETURNS 😭
Tyler Perry’s political drama is back for its seventh and final season, and if you’ve watched this show before, then you already know peace has never existed inside this White House.
Expect:
🔥 betrayals
🔥 scandals
🔥 murder
🔥 absolute mayhem
Basically? Business as usual.
Whether you love it ironically or unironically, The Oval always gives viewers something wild to react to.
Genre: Drama
👻 The Boroughs (Netflix) — Streaming May 21st
The Duffer Brothers are back with an eight-episode horror binge drop set inside a retirement community where residents uncover a terrifying supernatural threat.
And honestly? Elderly people battling evil entities sounds EXACTLY like the kind of weird premise that becomes a streaming phenomenon 😭
This could easily end up becoming one of the biggest horror conversation starters of the month if Netflix markets it correctly.
I’m extremely curious about this one.
Genre: Horror
😂 Ladies First (Netflix) — Streaming May 22nd
This Netflix comedy stars Sacha Baron Cohen as a notorious ladies’ man who suddenly wakes up in a parallel world dominated by women, forcing him into conflict with a powerful colleague played by Rosamund Pike.
The premise alone sounds like absolute chaos 😭
If the satire lands correctly, this could either become one of the funniest streaming surprises of the year… or one of the most heavily debated online. Either way? People are definitely going to be talking about it.
Genre: Comedy
🖤 The Chi — Final Season (Paramount+) — Streaming May 22nd
Lena Waithe’s beloved South Side Chicago drama returns for its eighth and final season.
And whew… endings always make me nervous 😭
Over the years, The Chi has built such strong emotional connections with its characters and community storytelling that expectations for this final season are HIGH.
I’m really hoping the show gives these characters meaningful endings because I already know social media discourse is going to be emotional every single week.
Genre: Drama
🍿 My Most Anticipated Watches This Week
If I had to pick the titles I’m MOST excited about:
✨ The Boroughs
✨ The Chi
✨ Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed
But honestly? This week has RANGE.
We’re going from horror to espionage thrillers to political drama chaos to dark comedy in a matter of days, and streaming platforms are clearly competing for every second of our attention 😭
Now I need to know…
👀 Which show are YOU most excited to watch this week?
And more importantly… which one do you think is about to completely take over the internet discourse first? 🍿
